After earning a Masters in Education from UPENN, Naomi became an elementary school teacher. It was during that time she discovered her passion for inventing original ways to make math meaningful and fun for kids who found it most challenging. In the process, she developed a math storybook adventure game which was ultimately published by Tom Snyder Productions (TSP).
Naomi left teaching to work at TSP as a product development author and later, part-time as an animator for the TV series Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist (Comedy Central) so that she could spend more time with her children.
More recently, she worked as a math tutor for kindergarten students. Many suffered from low "math-esteem" and lacked a basic understanding of numbers. This became her inspiration for the creation of Zero & Friends.tm
